Routers are, for the most part, easy to setup and maintain, but sometimes issues come up that can be frustrating. This article addresses some tasteless problems citizen have with their router.

Router settings are accessed with a web browser. One of the most tasteless issues router owners have is that they don't remember how to log into their router. Directions for accessing the router are often written on a emblem on the bottom or back of the router.

You need to be linked to the router in order to access the router's settings (unless your router has the ability to be linked to remotely). To access the router open a web browser and type in the router's Ip address into the address bar. This is commonly 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1. If that doesn't work, type in "ipconfig" and look for the Ip address for your network adapter. Copy the whole you find, except you'll need to change the whole after the third duration to a 1.

Depending on your router's settings you may have to connect to the router with an Ethernet cord to access the router's settings. To do this, securely connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the computer and the Ethernet port on the router.

Often when citizen change the default username and passwords on their router, they end up forgetting them. It's a good idea to take some masking tape and write your username and password on your router so you can really find it. If you have forgotten your login information you will need to reset your router's settings.

To reset the router search the reset button which is commonly a small hole on the rear of the unit. Use a paperclip to press the reset button and hold it down for 10 seconds. After you issue the button the router will reset.

If you have access to the network but not the internet check the status of the router's lights. Check to see if the internet light on the modem is indicating the accurate status. If it isn't, check that the internet modem has access to the internet and check to see if the network cable is securely attached to the Ethernet ports in the middle of the router and the modem.

If you cannot get internet access you'll need to manually set some of the router's settings. You may need to contact your internet aid provider for these settings. If the status light on the router indicates that it has an internet connection, check any firewalls on your computer that may cause interference to/from the internet and make sure they're setup properly.

Avoid sitting at hot places with your laptop. As the cable is made up of a plastic material, it can easily be damaged by the heat. Even if the heat is bearable by you, it will slowly make the cables weak and more prone to damage. Thus its good idea to use the laptop along with hp laptop charger in cooler areas.

Don't overcharge your laptop. This is very common thing that happens with every other laptop owner. We just keep the laptop for charging during night, and forget to switch off the charging, and we only switch it off in the morning. Because of over night charging, the charging component will get hot and damage the adjacent cables.
